Poetry of John Shaw

      Beginning Again Or Not

I saw her picture again today
and in it saw someone new
Someone who I didnít know but would like to be introduced to.
Maybe thatís what we could do
Begin again like dough rolled out and cut into pieces
then thrown back in the heap and kneaded into the creases
before it has a chance to harden and become stale
      To once again set sail
But without the boom, the rocks, queasy stomach, or sense of
Just this new person and me
      adrift anew
But as I look again I see the person I know now too
      And sheís not bad either
